Hopkinton - Home Restoration
Park St. Hopkinton, Ma
This project was a truly enriching experience. It only comes around once in awhile and I was very lucky to have found it.

The 216 year old home on the Hopkinton town common has been in the Dockstader family for over 30 years. It was one of the original houses in Hopkinton. It's first structure dates back to the early 1700s. Subsequent additions had been made throughout the 19th and 20th centuries that reflected the wants and needs of those periods in homes. What was amazing with this property was how easily one could trace those earlier time periods by examining the structure as it unraveled during the lengthy alteration process.
Under the existing roof in the attic are the remains of the original hand hewn cedar roof. The restoration involved many technical and visual facets inside and outside of the house including how and where to insulate under the ceiling of the porch to provide for better living spaces up above.
